Schoolhouse in the Woods has been such a blessing to my family! Their values are in alignment with ours, the content they are teaching our children is top tier, the staff are trustworthy and the campus itself is beautiful and the perfect setting for the school. We just completed our first year and are excited to join for a second!
We're sad for the year to come to an end, but excited for next year! My son had the BEST time! I felt safe, and excited for him being a part of something so thoughtful and fun.
My son loves Schoolhouse in the Woods. At nine years old there are not a lot of activities he's dedicated to but he will help make sure we are on time. He will make sure he has the shoes he needs. Summer just started and he is already ready to go back.
Lost skills are the hands-on, foundational skills that previous generations passed down naturally, but that modern life has largely left behind. Think foraging, fire building, archery, weaving, bread baking, and canoeing. They build critical thinking, problem solving, and self-reliance in ways traditional academics alone simply don't. At Schoolhouse In The Woods, lost skills are the heart of everything we do. Request your free intro packet to see the full lost skills schedule for this season.
Montessori is a child-led approach to education developed by Dr. Maria Montessori in the early 1900s. It focuses on hands-on learning in an environment thoughtfully prepared to bring out the best in every child. At Schoolhouse In The Woods, we apply Montessori principles to create a space where children develop independence, build real confidence, and learn at their own pace, outdoors, with their hands, and in community with others.
Students arrive at 10 AM and spend the day exploring, creating, and learning together with time for a nature walk, circle, lunch outdoors, and a hands-on lost skills lesson before wrapping up at 2 PM. Request your free intro packet for our full daily rhythm and Fall 2026 season schedule.
Classes are drop-off. Students are supervised by our instructors from arrival at 10 AM through pickup at 2 PM.
